Gingerbread NI promotes and supports the availability of high quality childcare for pre-school age children of lone parents.
The organisation has developed on-site childcare facilities at its: Western Area Centre (Derry).
Our Crèche is designed to offer children the opportunity to develop social, intellectual and physical skills in a safe, secure, multi-cultural environment where they can develop skills through interactive play.
The centre crèche offers lone parents the opportunity to leave their child/ren with fully qualified staff while they themselves attend training, which also takes place in the centre. We also provide respite sessions and offer a drop in facility for any lone parent who may want to avail of this service.
We offer a warm, stimulating and caring environment where pre-school age children can develop their skills and socialise with other children of the same age group.
Play is an important part of a child's development. At our crèches we provide play that will help children develop socially, emotionally, physically, intellectually and aesthetically. As far as possible, planned activities such as art and craft will have something for everyone.
The types of activities children will participate in are:
Jigsaws
Water play
Sand Play
Cookery
Songs and Stories
Imaginative Play
Play Dough
Arts & Crafts
Physical Play

The children also enjoy sitting together and eating or celebrating an occasion such as a birthday or Christmas party together.
