Final Report of the European Network of One Parent Families - Single Parent Inclusion Networks Edited by: Cohen, Sue. May 2002
The overall aims of the Single Parent Inclusion Networks Project were to:
- Further the involvement of single parents and their organisaions in participatory dialogue between 11 different nations and at a European level to increase the social inclusion of single parents and their children
- Bring together established national grassroots networks of one parent families with organisations in countries at the earliest stages of developing such networks to exchange information, strategies and good practice
- Develop more positive images of one parent families
- Raise the profile of one parent family issues through transnational consultation with researchers, non-governmental organisations, policy makers and European institutions
- Counter discrimination and promote positive images of one parent families.

Community Evaluation Northern Ireland (CENI) was commissioned to undertake this evaluation. It is an independent, not for profit, organisation providing evaluation services to the voluntary and community sector.
The Objectives of the Evaluation were:
- To assess the appropriateness of the training provision in relation to Gingerbread's aims and objectives
- To assess the quality of the training provided
- To assess the effectiveness of the training provision in relation to meeting the needs of users
- To assess the extent to which the training provision effects the clients quality of life
- To assess the extent to which the provision addresses social exclusion and, where appropriate, promotes economic re-generation
- To assess the efficiency of the provision's use of resources - the extent to which it provides 'value for money'
- To identify any gaps in provision that may inform future training strategy
These objectives were defined by following the terms of reference that were agreed between CENI and Gingerbread NI

This report seeks to present a Social Inclusion Model for One Parent Families. It is the culmination of a project undertaken by the European Network of One Parent Families. The network comprises of representatives of one parent organisation or networks within the EU. Delegates represented Belgium, Britain, Finland, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Portugal, Spain and Sweden.
Main aim
- to consider the situation of one parent families within the EU with the objective of identifying examples of good policies which contribute to the inclusion of one parent families in the mainstream of society
